Sheffield PICU wins at Design in Mental Health
Endcliffe, the new Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Sheffield’s Longley Centre, has won Refurbishment Project of the Year at Design in Mental Health Awards 2016.
The development, Phase 1 of an ongoing programme of modernisation, has transformed a dingy, unremarkable space into an engaging, welcoming PICU and provides a new entrance for the main building. Endcliffe provides an excellent variety of space, from ‘public’ entrance and visiting spaces through to quieter therapy and day areas as well as 10 bedrooms set around a courtyard. Overall, the project vastly improves the appearance and functionality of an existing building, and underlines the Trust’s commitment to service users, their carers and staff. It demonstrates too how the creative use of existing facilities can make first class solutions affordable.
We couldn’t be more delighted for the Trust, Sheffield Health & Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, and all those service users and stakeholders who contributed to this fantastic project.
Congratulations too go to the project delivery team including Arcadis, Cad 21, Southern Green and Re-design Interiors
