York Design Awards with Broadacres
Broadacres’ Church Gardens scheme in York featured at the York Design Awards last night along with many other fabulous schemes in the city.
The Church Gardens development on Water Lane has transformed a derelict and unloved space to provide affordable housing for local people. The scheme includes 16no 2-bed apartments and 7no 3-bed houses with gardens and parking.
Although our scheme didn’t win, chair of judges Julian Bicknell, commented on the skillful layout and good detailing describing it as a fine achievement for Broadacres Housing Association, P+HS Architects and the contractor Esh. The judges had particularly appreciated the way in which the site was arranged to provide a line of sight and framed view to the church spire at the rear of the development. Congratulations to the whole team: a scheme to be proud of.
