A programme of modernisation by Erimus Housing has resulted in state of the art housing for older people in Billingham.
The outdated building at Eden House was demolished in December 2007 to make way for high quality, modern sheltered accommodation. Work began in 2008 and residents moved into their new homes early in 2009.
Designed by P+HS and procured through a partnering contract with Frank Haslam Milan, this sheltered housing development consists of 22 one and two-bedroom appartments for rent and 4 bungalows for sale, providing both independent and supported living for older people.
Individual bathrooms and kitchens are carefully designed, and the development includes a communal lounge for residents, a secured entrance and a buggy store. Materials have been used to reflect the predominantly red brick of the surrounding buildings, also featuring areas of timber cladding and render to reflect contemporary living.
