Church View Health Centre

Working with Community Ventures and Miller Construction, P+HS Architects designed Church View Medical Centre: a new healthcare facility developed on a brownfield site for the South Elmsall and South Kirkby region.

The scheme, completed in June 2013, is the result of a joint venture between the GPs and Community Ventures, providing accommodation for two individual GP practices, along with shared community health services and a retail pharmacy. Community health services include podiatry, community dentistry, sexual health, speech therapy and alcohol and drug advice; allowing patients to access a wider range of health services closer to home, without having to travel between different buildings. The facilities also include accommodation for Health Visitors and District Nurses, improving service integration and providing opportunities for cross discipline working amongst healthcare professionals.

The design team worked closely with the PCT and GPs over two years whilst developing the design proposals and held local consultations to discuss emerging plans with the community. The result is a modern, spacious and accessible building that has been warmly welcomed by local residents. Dr Diggle said: “We are absolutely thrilled; it provides a great opportunity for all our patients to benefit from a new surgery in an absolutely delightful building.”
