The Hoyland Centre
P+HS has worked with Barnsley Community Solutions (BCS) for a number of years through the LIFT framework, beginning with the Worsbrough Health Centre, a 2200m² facility which opened in November 2004.
More recently, we have been working with BCS on the development of integrated community facilities as part of the regeneration of Hoyland. Here healthcare services are combined with wide-ranging, relevant community facilities within a safe, welcoming and accessible neighbourhood hub. The new building creates a landmark facility in Hoyland town centre, in a prominent location in the centre of the retail/commercial area.
The new 2700m² Hoyland Centre provides first class standards of accommodation for Barnsley PCT and Barnsley Council. It includes three GP practices, community nursing services, CAMHS, podiatry, diagnostics, substance misuse services, post op rehab, Barnsley Connects Contact Centre, giving access to Local Authority Services, a community library and learning centre, children and family services, community learning kitchen, community facilities, access to universal advice and self help and a pharmacy.
Designed with involvement from the local community, the contemporary design incorporates colour and artwork by Fabric Lenny to create an inspiring, modern community facility.
The scheme was “Highly Commended “ for “Best Community Project“ at the Local Authority Building Control “Building Excellence Awards”.
