20 Years at P+HS Architects

However much she might like it to, today can't pass by without mention of a special anniversary of one of our Directors.

Cath Lake joined P+HS Architects in 2001 and, aside from a year off to travel, has been a key member of P+HS ever since, becoming an Associate in 2008 and a Director five years later.

Cath has worked on a wide range of projects, her first for P+HS a mental health facility for Older Adults in Durham. Whilst going on to deliver several highly successful residential schemes, from contemporary affordable homes in rural North Yorkshire to regeneration schemes and older age care on Teesside, Cath has always worked in healthcare working across primary, community and mental healthcare, where she has become widely recognised.

A passionate advocate of good healthcare design, particularly in specialist mental healthcare environments, Cath is known and respected for her design skill and ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels. Since 2015, Cath has taken an active role as a Board member of the Design in Mental Health Network; a not-for-profit, social enterprise company which works tirelessly to improve mental healthcare: here she has been instrumental in producing the Stakeholder Engagement Toolkit as well as contributing to numerous other initiatives to improve mental healthcare environments through design. Her voluntary role with DiMHN has been in addition to a packed work schedule at P+HS, mentoring students, overseeing teams and delivering numerous successful projects as well as finding time to participate in the recent Active Architects fundraising challenge.

So to Cath: Congratulations on 20 successful years; maybe tonight you'll give yourself a night off…
