Butterby Close is Best in Class

Our scheme in Spennymoor for Livin Housing (livin) won the category 'Best Social or Affordable Housing' at the LABC Northern awards last week.

Butterby Close replaces an outdated scheme of single bed apartments and bedsits, Butterby Grange, which no longer met the needs of local people and had become largely unoccupied and economically unviable. Having consulted widely and undertaken extensive research, Registered Provider livin identified a pressing need for new high quality affordable housing in the area.

The new development, built by Tolent Living, provides 14 modern and spacious 2 bedroom apartments for older people and those with disabilities. Proposals were well received by the community and the completed scheme is seen by local residents as a great improvement to the area.
