Glen Lodge extension completed
Glen Lodge extension completed
16 November 2017
26 additional new homes for older residents in York are now available at Glen Lodge.
Addressing the growing accommodation needs of an older population, P+HS were commissioned by the City of York Council to extend an established and popular Extra Care facility as part of a city wide initiative to review and update older care provision. The new scheme provides an additional 24 new apartments constructed in a three-storey extension to the existing Glen Lodge building as well as two new bungalows on the site.
Constructed by William Birch, the new facility provides apartments and bungalows, all carefully designed to enable people to live independently for longer in a supportive environment with varying levels of care available on site when needed. Our team worked closely with stakeholders and users to develop a solution that would be accessible to everyone, including those living with dementia and other challenges of advancing years.
The new development not only provides additional accommodation, but also coincides with the current extra care provision extended to 24 hours, seven days a week, providing services to people with more intensive care and support needs and enabling existing tenants to remain in their homes as their needs change.
