New Key Worker Accommodation Opens

The Roost, a new accommodation block designed for key workers at Diana Princess of Wales (DPoW) Hospital in Grimsby has officially opened.

The modern ‘key worker’ accommodation built by Kier Northern, consists of 96 student units and 124 studio apartments designed to house hard to recruit staff including doctors and nurses.The new building was named by a member of staff as 'The Roost', meaning a place to settle or congregate for rest or sleep . It is hoped that the new facility will become a vibrant community and a powerful incentive for staff choosing DPoW as a place to work and settle. Sir Keith Pearson, Chair of Health Education England who opened the building thanked everyone involved in the development. Highlighting the importance of 'caring for the people who care for patients', Sir Keith said that developments like The Roost were proof positive of the Trust's outstanding commitment to the wellbeing of its staff and students.

P+HS worked closely with the project team and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLaG) throughout to ensure that the original vision and aims for the scheme were achieved. The project was delivered on time and within budget. NLaG director of estates and facilities Jug Johal said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our staff such high standards of modern accommodation at affordable prices. We hope these new facilities help us to attract more medical staff to come and work for us.”
