A new interior scheme for Kirkleatham Innovation Centre demonstrates the lasting nature of our client relationships.
P+HS Architects began working with UK Steel Enterprise (UKSE) in 2000, on the first of three Innovation Centres designed to provide office and workshop space for start up businesses. Over the years, the schemes, in Kirkleatham, Hartlepool and Ebbw Vale were all so successful that we were subsequently commissioned to create additional capacity at each site to meet demand. 20 years on and the client commissioned us again; this time for the interior refurbishment of Kirkleatham.
UKSE was keen to create an environment to better support staff well-being and where collaborations could take place to generate innovation. Our designers reconfigured the interior space to be more open and gave it a contemporary feel. Writable wall surfaces were incorporated into booth seating in collaboration spaces and a variety of breakout environments created to improve communication. Acoustic baffles doubled up as artwork and privacy screens coordinating with ceiling baffles and feature lighting were used to create more intimate break out spaces.
