Offsite Healthcare Project of the Year Finalist

We are delighted that Northumbria's new Ambulatory Care Unit is a finalist in the 2020 Offsite Awards. The project, at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington, involved the creation of a new wing, increasing the building's capacity by 25%. An offsite construction approach was chosen to optimise the delivery programme and minimise disruption on the busy live hospital site.

For an undertaking of this scale progress was quite unprecedented, going from initial inception to building occupation in just 15 months. The credit for this remarkable achievement must be given to the experienced and ambitious team: the client Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust, offsite construction specialists McAvoy and of course the team from P+HS Architects. This was a large project requiring meticulous coordination to link in seamlessly with the existing building and avoid disruption to the operational acute site.
