Work Begins on New Health and Education Hub for Northumbria Healthcare

The beginning of August marked the official start on site for the Northumbria Health and Care Academy in Cramlington.

The new building, for Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will provide a centre of training excellence for nursing and midwifery staff and allied healthcare professionals. As well as training facilities, the 8000sq m development will include conference facilities, office space and meeting rooms. The ground floor will be occupied by GP Practice Brockwell Medical Group which is relocating its services to the new building. A drive-through coffee shop and wellbeing walking trail are also included in the scheme.

The Trust are working with development partners Assura plc and construction is being undertaken by local firm Metnor. It is expected that the new centre will open in 2023.
