Business Central

A regeneration scheme as part of Darlington’s Central Park Enterprise Zone, Business Central provides Grade A offices in a high quality, supportive environment for new and growing companies.

P+HS Architects worked with Willmott Dixon under the Scape framework to deliver technical design and specifications and production information through to completion.

The new hub is designed to attract growing and start-up firms focusing on digital, biologics and advanced manufacturing sectors. There are 52 units of varying size with space for up to 60 firms, as well as Open Space co-working facility. The design is contemporary, aiming to create a creative environment to encourage interaction between tenants. Plenty of support spaces - tea points, meeting and conference facilities, shared sitting and break out areas, shower and change facilities – make the hub an attractive proposition for new businesses. Outside the enhanced landscaping strategy includes car parking and secure cycle bays.

The four-storey landmark building forms a cornerstone of the new 30 hectare Central Park masterplan and aims to improve links between the Park, the railway station and the town centre. Capitalising on the opportunities of this unique town centre location the development presents a catalyst for future regeneration in the wider region and provides a springboard for other high quality buildings to attract business and development to the Central Park scheme.
