This Extra Care facility is part of Leeds City Council’s £30 million housing programme to construct over 1,000 new homes by 2028.
Developed for Home Group, the £11m scheme has been designed to meet the needs of people requiring on-going care and support, such as those with health conditions or older people with age related frailties. The aim is to provide a supportive environment which maximises residents’ abilities to live independently within a community setting, minimising feelings of loneliness or isolation.
The scheme was developed by Lovell Later Living with P+HS Architects appointed by their sister company contractor Morgan Sindall, from RIBA Stage 4 for the technical delivery.
There are 64 dwellings, comprising one and two-bed apartments, all available for affordable rent. On site facilities include: restaurant and café, hair and beauty salon, hobby area, communal lounges, assisted bathing suite, guest suite, and landscaped gardens. With a blend of customer-only and visitor areas and a range of services, Greenmill Gardens forms a neighbourhood hub where residents can mix with the local community.
This scheme provides supported services for residents as and when they may need them, while also providing an environment where people can live independent and fulfilling lives within their own homes.
