Micklethwaite

The site at Sty Lane Micklethwaite was allocated for residential development in the Bradford UDP but a previous planning applications prepared by another design team attracted over 2,000 objections from Local Residents.

P+HS Architects were appointed following a selection process that focused on the approach we would take to the project, and took the project back to ‘first principles’.

Starting with a detailed contextual analysis of the site, which is on steeply sloping land bordering the Leeds Liverpool Canal Conservation Area, we made an early presentation of our emerging strategy to the CABE Design Review Panel. By obtaining their support for our proposals, and an endorsement of our approach to the project, we secured the backing of the Local Planning Authority for the emerging scheme, and were able to ensure that the planning application was then recommended for approval.
