Queensmead School

P+HS and Yorkon were chosen as the preferred team, following a competitive tender process to design the new administration and science building for Queensmead School in Ruislip, Middlesex. The proposals form part of a wider strategy by Queensmead school for improvement in Education and in particular the teaching of science.
The new building was designed to ultimately replace the existing out-dated science facilities and include ten science laboratories, prep rooms, staff areas and administration space.
A number of design factors were taken into account in order to meet the needs of the school, its staff and pupils and to also meet the guidance issued by the DFES for Secondary schools in terms of layout, planning and appearance. The layout is distributed over two floors and focuses teaching spaces around a central shared space which can be used for a variety of purposes or simply acting as a waiting area before and after classes. The building provides a welcoming and attractive statement and projects the image of a modern school. Planning permission has successfully been granted
