The Sycamores

P+HS Architects developed The Sycamores Extra Care Scheme for Leeds City Council, in partnership with Lovell Later Living and Home group. As part of a programme of investment into Extra Care accommodation across Leeds, the scheme was designed with people in mind. The Sycamores is an attractive, modern, safe and secure place for older people with varying levels of care and support needs to live independently in a home environment. Staff on site will provide high quality, holistic, preventative, flexible and responsive care and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To tackle isolation and loneliness for residents, communal areas feature comfortable lounges, modern dining areas, and landscaped gardens, as well as a café and a hair salon which will be open to both residents and the wider community. There are 62 self contained apartments, including a mix of one and two bedrooms, each with contemporary kitchen facilities, en-suite bathrooms and private balconies or patio areas. The independent apartments will be unfurnished to encourage residents to make their space personal to them; the design allows residents to maintain their own space and independence whilst integrated into the community with the care and support they need.
