The Wolfson Cystic Fibrosis Centre

A bespoke building designed around the unique needs of CF patients enabling all treatments to be provided from one location.

The contemporary design is focused on creating a non-clinical, homely and welcoming environment and provides exemplary inpatient facilities, as well as an open plan staff office and associated accommodation. There are 16 spacious en-suite bedrooms and provision for families to stay together, all designed to make patients feel more at home, especially during long stays; soft furnishings are used to add to the domestic feel and bold colour, light and artwork are used extensively throughout.

Tackling the challenges of cross infection for CF patients, the scheme includes video conferencing between rooms and glass gym pods so that patients can be in touch without being in physical contact, reducing feelings of isolation. Exercise is a crucial part of treatment and there are indoor and outdoor options as well as space for holistic therapies such as art.

P+HS helped Nottingham Hospitals' fundraising charity to reach their target for the scheme by producing a promotional video that can be viewed below.
