On Site West Denton
A new development for Newcastle City Council. P+HS Architects have worked in collaboration with the design team to create a high quality affordable housing scheme which will meet the needs of local residents and create a safe and desirable place to live. The proposals provide 45 new homes (a mix of 2, 3 & 4 beds), a children’s home and two sports pitches for community use.
Adderstone Living have been appointed and will work in partnership with P+HS Architects, BGP and One Environments to deliver the scheme. We hope that these fantastic homes for children and families in the city will be welcoming their new residents in the summer of 2024.

Fabulous day for a visit to West Denton. The houses are coming along nicely with the varied streetscene, striking brick and landscaping settling in.
The layout development worked hard in order to maximise areas of planting and minimise the impact of car parking along the streetscene. This was a real challenge given the site restraints and number of units needed to be achieved on site, alongside the two sports pitches.
The final touches being made to the sports pitches and wider tree planting scheme as the project comes to an end with the site handover imminent.

A massive thank you to Harry Twizell Adderstone Living for showing some of the P+HS Architects team and students from the RIBA Mentoring Scheme around the West Denton Scheme. As a practice we have always been committed to encouraging and supporting students throughout their studies (at any stage). We are delighted to be involved in the national RIBA North East Student Mentoring Scheme supporting six Northumbria University Architecture Students in their professional development.

Fantastic to see the primary streetscape within the development taking shape. A mixture of gable fronted and typical elevations taking form.
The children’s home progresses above foundation level, as work starts on the installation of wind posts, giving a real feel for the internal spaces (image shows the entrance lobby)
Great to see up close and personal, the wonderful buff brick and some of the detailing to the gable fronted semi-detached houses. All adding interest to the streetscape!

Fantastic to see Adderstone Living up and running with a number of houses already underway.
Brickwork is currently in progress at ground level, to the houses running along the southern boundary of the development area.
